MOSQUITO DUNKS - Read Reviews

Mosquito Dunks have been used by professionals for more than a decade and have proven their value in destroying mosquitoes - by killing the larvae before they mature into biting adults.

Made with Bt-israelensis (Bt-i), a highly specific biological pesticide, this product represent a major breakthrough for people and the environment when compared with the traditional toxic chemical approach to mosquito control. Will not harm people, pets, wildlife or fish. To learn more about Bt-i, click here for reference information from the Environmental Protection Agency.    Kills mosquitoes for 30 days or longer when placed in standing water outdoors. Place wherever water accumulates such as drainage ditches, rain barrels, ponds, bird baths, koi ponds, tree hollows, and anywhere else mosquito can lay eggs (anywhere there is more than 1/2 cup of water) .

1 dunk treats 100 sq, ft. of surface area of standing waterMosquito Dunks kill fast (within 24 hours) before mosquitoes are old enough to bite. EPA registered in all 50 states.  Safe for fish.  Works for 30 days of protection.  They may also be broken in half to treat smaller areas.

When the water dries up Mosquito Dunks also dry and become dormant.  When water returns the dunks reactivate.

REVIEWS:

Mosquito "dunks" Melanie M. Hauff, September 29, 2005

"These not only work to prevent mosquito larva from forming in any standing water you may have in your yard, but they are not poisonous. These dunks contain a bacillus that occurs naturally in soil. With the scurge of West Nile Virus being carried by mosquitos these dunks are very necessary to prevent the spread of the disease."

Excellent mosquito larva killerWhite Doberman, February 12, 2007

"Biologically safe so it won't kill my dog or the frogs in the frog pond, but it sure takes care of Mosquito larva. Small pond that I love came with my new house, but I found it to be a Mosquito pool. This knocked them right out. I did have an algea boom after that and contacted the company. They assured me it was not from their product. Not sure if I believe that, but a barely roll took that issue away."

Jorjie, Jolene H. Jones, November 3, 2006

"I have 4 rain barrels and a garden pond. I use a lot of dunks. These are less expensive and because it is such a big package, lasts several months."

MOSQUITO DUNKS - 20 PACK, Marjorie Ghilarducci, July 15, 2010

"We have rain barrels all around our home and a fish pond, so a quantity of dunks is necessary for us. Even if I only needed a smaller amount, the product has a long shelf life. The price of the 20 mosquito dunks pack is a great buy considering the packs of lesser amounts of dunks and the cost that I find locally..."

They really work, Quilman, June 24, 2010

"I had heard that they worked, but as always, I was skeptical, until our township started to give any home owner 2 per month, because as a cost cuting factor they eliminated our mosquito sprayiing program. I have standing water on my property, so I started using them and they do work and I will continue to use them."

They really do work, Ex-Nan, June 24, 2010

"I've used a few different products to control mosquitoes such as Liquid BTI, mosquito bits, and the dunks. And one problem in determining the effectiveness of any of these, is in trying to prove a negative, since my fish pond has never had a real issue with mosquitoes.

But recently I had the opportunity to help a nearby community center with a Mosquito infestation. They had several outdoor pots filled with water and water lilies, and many of the pots were filled with hundreds of larvae. I then took a single Mosquito Dunk and crushed it into bits, and then distributed the bits into i think 6 or 7 pots. 24 hours later i received a new 20 pack of dunks, and went to the center to put the recommended dosage into each pot. before i put in the new dunks, i saw that the bits had killed at least 90% of the larvae in the pots overnight.

So i think this product is really effective, and as a bonus you are really getting 2 products in one. First you get the long term control of the intact dunk, and then you can get the quick kill of the "Mosquito Bits" product by crushing the dunk."

Good Product, Elizabeth Falanagan "E.J.F", May 9, 2010

"Dunks Work! There safe my dog ate one and she was fine.(Not recommended) Ponds, Bird baths, Saucers under plants, Rain barrel's, Etc. In small saucers & bird baths I break them into 4THs. They keep well. It's Hard for me to use 20 in one season. I put mine in a zip lock bag & I'm good to go at the first sign of those nasty Mosquito Larvae."

Works great, perhaps not as potent as they say, Steve Riley, April 17, 2010

"I've been using these in my pond for a year now. They do get rid of the mosquito larvae, my only problem is they don't seem to be as potent as they claim. It says one dunk per 100sq/ft of water area (I have about 200sq/ft of pond). I use two in my pond floating around, but they don't seem to work like that. I contacted the company, and they said to crumble one up and throw the pieces around the pond - this floods the area with the stuff. That does work great - I think it's best to crumble one that's been floating around and is all wet already. After I do that, the mosquito larvae are gone within a day or two. So basically, I use a little more than they say, and end up crumbling them up, then tossing a couple more in to float around.

The other good point, no harm to any other pond life. The tadpoles, dragonfly larvae, and other pond life are not affected."

Mosquito Donuts., G. Lowry, March 17, 2010

"I have been using this product for several years and found it to be very effective and easy to use."

Mosquitos still bad but better, A. Stout, October 16, 2009

"Mosquitos have be horrible this year. I tested the dunks earlier this year by adding a mosquito to water with larvae. They were gone within a day or so"

Biological Mosquito Control, Tom Thumb "T.T.", October 15, 2009

"I've used ducks for more than 10 years and find them effective for any small standing water."

Not too toxic, S.R. Schnur "srschnur", August 9, 2009

"I have a deck off my bedroom and a rain barrel sitting next to it. Before I started using these dunks we had too many mosquitoes to use the deck, and the larvae were actually visible in the barrel. I now have many fewer mosquitoes, and there are no visible larvae. I want a few mosquitoes left for the birds and toads, but they can stay away from my bedroom door!"

Good price, M. J Bauer "Mike Bauer -Voracious Reader", June 8, 2009

"This is about half the cost of my local store for an effective product and the delivery time was fine. These are not a panacea but they are effective in larger bodies of still water (ponds, wetlands, etc) Plus they do not have the negative effect that pesticides do (they don't work as well either)"

Excellent it works, W. ocampo Moreno, May 13, 2009

"I have a wet land behind my house that runs along my property line. My house was cover with mosquitos due to the standing water during the whole summer long. I threw this things in the water and I was mosqito free fro the rest of the summer. I used it with this product as well Summit Chemical 30Oz Mosquito Bits 117-6. I just have to say that it feels great not having mosquitos around your house."
